NOTE: This is a shared time slot. This session will immediately follow "Building Anti-Racism - Fostering Creative Justice"

Students are the future of the performing arts field and their education should prepare them for success. Unfortunately, many educational institutions have not updated their practices to reflect the needs of a 21st-century practitioner. The speaker will reflect on her experience as a music student turned activist advocating for DEI in the curriculum, programming, and recruitment practices. This session provides a student perspective on DEI within academia and discusses how faculty members can become accomplices for sustainable change.
